From the day of finalizing your soulmate till the actual wedding there are many traditional functions that are sacred & auspicious for the future life of the bride & groom. Functions keep the guests involved in the celebrations & enhance the bond between the two families. After deciding your soulmate there is a function to let the world know that know you have stopped seeking for proposals and are getting married. This function is the beginning of the wedding celebrations & is also called the tilak or roka function. Following is the list of requirements for the first ceremony. You can also use the planning checklist to keep track of arrangements.
- Decide the date & timing of the function.
- Decide the budget of the function.
- Prepare a guests list for the function & invite them. This function is a small function with very close family members; but the scale of the function can vary as per your choice.
- This function takes place at the groom’s residence; if the scale of the function is large, you need to finalize the venue i.e. a banquet hall.
- Have simple decoration with flowers, fabric, etc.
- After the function snacks & drinks are served to the guests. So decide the menu & communicate the same to the caterer.
- For the tilak function you will require:
- Puja Thali
- Pandit/priest if required as per your tradition.
- Havan if required as per your tradition.
- Gifts for the bride & groom. i.e dress, fruits, jewelry, henna (mehendi), etc.
- Sweets to be exchanged after the ceremony.
- Appoint a photographer/ videographer to take photos & videos so that you can preserve all the memories of these special moments forever.
